Arizona Physical Therapy Continuing Competence Requirements

Arizona Physical Therapists must complete 20 contact hours of continuing competence during each two-year compliance period. Physical Therapist Assistants must complete 10 contact hours.
The current compliance period ends August 31, 2026.
Physical Therapists: 20 contact hours
At least 10 hours must be Category A activities.
Physical Therapist Assistants: 10 contact hours
At least 6 hours must be Category A activities.
Arizona allows all required hours to be earned through qualifying Category A activities, with no maximum on Category A credit.
Pose Method® of Running: A Master Course on Running is a
20-hour online professional course in running assessment, correction, and retraining.
The course provides Arizona Physical Therapists with the full 20 contact hours required during a standard compliance period.
For Physical Therapist Assistants, the course provides more than the 10 contact hours required for a standard compliance period.
Upon completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion for their records.
Arizona PT and PTA licenses in the current renewal cycle expire August 31, 2026.
Licensees attest to meeting continuing competence requirements during renewal and should retain their completion documentation in case of audit.
